Not even a little. Suitsy is constructed from real suiting fabric with genuine satin peak lapels, a pleated formal bib, and a proper bow tie. The only “trick” is a concealed two-way zipper replacing the buttons, studs, and separate trousers. Up close and across the room, it reads as a tailored tuxedo.
The front opens completely via a hidden YKK two-way zipper that runs from the seat to the collar. You step in like a jumpsuit, pull the zip up, and the lapels and bib lock into their tailored position. With a little practice, four seconds is genuinely doable.
The kids cut (2T to 10–12) keeps the zipper but tucks the pull under a satin flap so there is no chin to catch, and adds reinforced knees. The baby cut (newborn to 24 months) has no zipper at all — it snaps along the inseam so the whole garment opens flat for a change. There are no loose buttons, cords or ties on either, and the baby bow tie is stitched down rather than clipped.
A Sorona® stretch blend with a moisture-wicking lining — the same family of four-way-stretch performance fabric as the technical men's trousers Lululemon and others made standard office wear, cut and finished as suiting. It gives in every direction and recovers, so it drapes like a suit rather than bagging at the knee, and it moves damp off your skin instead of holding it there. It is also breathable, wrinkle-resistant and machine washable.
No. On the tuxedo the bow tie is sewn into the garment, so there is nothing to tie — but we do not ship a separate necktie or bow tie with any order. The collar takes your own normally if you would rather wear one, and the business cut is designed around a standard necktie.
